Heroes and Villains return 😈

With the World Cup finishing in spectacular fashion, we get right back into it with the Premier League kicking off today.

This is what the table looks like as we go into Gameweek 17.

The early kick-off sees Brentford take on Spurs. Thomas Frank says that Ivan Toney is fully focused despite finding himself charged with more than 250 alleged breaches of betting rules. Two-hundred and fifty.

Conte is rumoured to be resting all World Cup stars today (change those teams quickly). Wolves have already confirmed their first January signing with Matheus Cunha coming in on-loan from Atletico Madrid beating today’s rivals Everton in the race.

Brighton & Hove will be without World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister for two weeks as he recovers from his hangover.

Aston Villa are also likely to be without Argentinian goalkeeper and agent of chaos Emilio Martinez after his World Cup heroics/villainy [delete where appropriate].

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle (3rd in the Prem, with 5 wins from their last 5) will be looking to solidify their Champions League hopes with a win against Leicester today.

Liverpool play Aston Villa off the back of defeat to City during the week in an unsavoury League Cup tie.

Arsenal play West Ham in the last fixture of the day.  Arsenal sit top of the table having only dropped points in 2 games so far this season. All seven teams to win 12 of their first 14 games have won the Premier League title.
