JLingz answers Moyes' call for additional back-up dancers đş
Good Morning, football fans â˝Welcome, new subscribers!A proper Saturday with several football matches. We cover todayâs games in the Prem and the ugly resurgence of online racism aimed at players this week.
TODAY'S FOOTBALL â˝
The early kick-off today sees Everton play Newcastle, two heavyweight bygones with very different seasons so far.Everton are battling it out to play European football next season, whilst Newcastle are doing their best to play in the Championship. Pickford has given Ancelotti the type of selection headache that a manager doesnât want after his display against Leicester midweekand Steve Bruce has reassured us that heâs not bulletproof despite 11 games without a win.
Palace vs Wolvessees 14th play 13th. This game might be the precursor to how the rest of their season goes. Palace have ended the season 11th, 12th and 14th (in that order) and will be hoping that the trajectory doesnât continue.Wolves are probably victims of their own success, having finished 7th in both of their seasons in the Prem. Theyâve struggled to replace Jiminez and are on course for their worst finish in the Prem. They'll be hoping that their new signings can help push Wolves back to the top half of the table.Manchester City take on Sheffield United at 3pm today.Sheffield United have already taken nearly 40% of their points this season from the City of Manchester so, as far as theyâre concerned, thereâs nowhere theyâd rather play. Sheffield Unitedâs current form is the 3rd best in the last 5 games out of all the bottom half teams. Chris Wilder has made it clear that they need to play âclose to near-perfectâto get points at this level, and heâll need a repeat performance of their win over United to get anything from a team on an 11 game-winning run.
The BBC get the pleasure of hosting West Brom - Fulham today. Fulham have weathered the storm of a recent tough run but they need to start winning some games if they want to claw their way out of the relegation zone.West Brom have conceded 18 goals in their last 5 Prem games. Big Sam is going to need to make some defensive leaps in order to not find themselves rock bottom of the league before the end of February.Once upon a time, Arsenal vs Manchester United was the biggest game the Premier League could produce.
Chelsea are âurging social media platforms and regulatory authorities to take stronger, more effective and more urgent action against this despicable behaviourâ.Axel Tuanzebe and Anthony Martial received racist abuse online after their loss to Sheffield United. West Brom confirmed on Friday they had been in contact with West Midlands police over a message sent to the midfielder Romaine Sawyers on Twitter, leaving Sam Allardyce asking âwhether reporting it is enoughâ and questioning how they can start holding people accountable.A man has beenarrested regarding the incident.
Clubs around the world, as well as the footballing authorities, have let the situation escalate to this level by contributing little other than lip-service to the fight against racism in the past but the Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters has assured everyone that âtackling online hate is a priority for football, and I believe social media companies need to do moreâ. Racism should have always been treated as the most heinous of crimes within the game but, unfortunately, UEFA and FIFA have deemed issues that have affected their wallet as a much higher priority than the human cost associated with racism.
